HONORING Sabrina Delfinger upon the occasion of
receiving the distinguished National Board
Certification by the National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant achievements in the distinguished careers of those
outstanding educational leaders, whose dedication and accomplishments
have been instrumental in developing character and academic excellence
in the young people of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sabrina Delfinger upon the occasion of receiving the distinguished
National Board Certification by the National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards; and

WHEREAS, Sabrina Delfinger was one of 21 teachers statewide who
earned National Board Certification in 2016, along with an additional 30
educators who successfully recertified; currently, there are 1,790
teachers who have achieved this outstanding honor in New York State; and

WHEREAS, Sabrina Delfinger is an Exceptional Needs Specialist at the
Newburgh Enlarged City School District in Newburgh, New York; her
students range in age from early childhood through young adults; and

WHEREAS, National Board Certification is awarded to teachers who
voluntarily have their teaching methods evaluated through a rigorous
series of performance-based assessments, including teaching portfolios,
student work examples, and student learning; and

WHEREAS, Educators like Sabrina Delfinger provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
young people in their educational journeys and ensuring success in their
future years; and

WHEREAS, Sabrina Delfinger has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
her impressive dedication to her students; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals such as Sabrina Delfinger who work to
support our proud tradition of public education by providing skills and
talents to our schools; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sabrina Delfinger upon the occasion of receiving the distinguished
National Board Certification by the National Board for Professional

Teaching Standards, and for her significant contributions to education
in New York State; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sabrina Delfinger.
