COMMENDING Leadership Orange upon the occasion of
hosting its 5th Annual Hall of Fame Awards Event &
After Party, and paying tribute to this year's
inductees
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Leadership Orange upon the occasion of hosting its 5th Annual
Hall of Fame Awards Event & After Party, and paying tribute to this
year's inductees on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Anthony's Pier 9 in New
Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, Leadership Orange is an annual 10-month leadership training
program where individuals from Orange County are selected to receive
training on topics important to Orange County residents and businesses;
the program enables participants to better understand the many
challenges facing Orange County and to better serve the community; and
WHEREAS, Leadership Orange is a private, non-partisan organization
which relies on support from the business community to reach its goals;
over 330 individuals have graduated from the Leadership Orange program
since its inception in 1993; and
WHEREAS, At this auspicious event, the honorees will be inducted
into the Leadership Orange Hall of Fame for making significant, tangible
leadership contributions to Orange County; and
WHEREAS, Robert R. Marchione, a member of the Class of 1997, is a
Partner and Certified Public Accountant at RBT CPAs, LLP; he joined the
firm in 1981, and became Partner in January of 1987; today, he is in
charge of the Construction Industry Practice of the firm where he
concentrates his efforts on working closely with his clients providing
technical expertise and problem solving assistance relating to corporate
accounting, tax planning, budgeting, forecasting and succession
planning; and
WHEREAS, Robert R. Marchione is involved in numerous professional
organizations including the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA),
the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), RSM
MCREN, the Construction Contractors Association, the North East
Sub-Contractors Association (NESCA), and the Builders Association of the
Hudson Valley (BAHV), as well as the Construction Industry Council; and
WHEREAS, Michelle F. Rider, a member of the Class of 2006, is a
Senior Partner in the law firm, Catania, Mahon, Milligram & Rider, PLLC,
with offices in Newburgh and Fishkill; also a CPA, she heads the firm's
transactional/corporate practice and focuses her own practice on
commercial transactions, contracts, corporate governance and business
succession planning; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated leader in her community, Michelle F. Rider just
completed her term as the first female Chair of the St. Luke's Cornwall
Hospital Board of Trustees where she helped navigate the hospital's
affiliation negotiations with The Montefiore Health System; she also
chairs the hospital's Strategic Planning Committee, and helped found
Girls on the Run Hudson Valley, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Rowley, a member of the Class of 2008, is both
the President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan
County; in this role, she works with the Board of Directors,
professional advisors and volunteers to plan, structure, implement and
monitor an effective development program which will increase endowed and
non-endowed assets, develop and maintain good relationships with
nonprofit organizations, and steward current and prospective donors; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Rowley has a strong background in development and
marketing having worked at Inspire - Orange County Cerebral Palsy
Association and the Town of Wallkill Boys & Girls Club prior to joining
the staff at the Community Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Alanna M. Smith, a member of the Class of 2000, is a
retired Business and Industry Coordinator for Orange-Ulster BOCES;
throughout her 30-year career, she administered state and federally
funded employment and training and economic development training
initiatives on the local, regional and state level; and
WHEREAS, Alanna M. Smith also served as a consultant/trainer for the
New York State Education Department, the former Governor's School and
Business Alliance (SABA), the New York State Council of Children and
Families, and the New York State Occupational Equity Center and others;
in addition, she wrote and coordinated workforce preparation grants and
school and business partnerships for the Orange-Ulster BOCES Career and
Technical Education Center and component school districts; and
WHEREAS, Jonnie Wesley-Krueger, a member of the Class of 1999, is an
Engagement Officer at the Bon Secours Charity Health System; her long
career as a health and human services professional began in Orange
County, California, in the mid-1980s at a new rape crisis center; and
WHEREAS, After she returned to Orange County, Jonnie Wesley-Krueger
was hired as the Director of Hotline Services at the Mental Health
Association; in this capacity, she oversaw the Rape Crisis program,
provided prevention and training services to various audiences, and
became a familiar advocate with local police as well as the Orange
County District Attorney's office; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention
to organizations and individuals who serve to bring people together for
the united purpose of actively pursuing improvements in their
communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Leadership Orange upon the occasion of hosting its 5th Annual
Hall of Fame Awards Event & After Party, and paying tribute to this
year's inductees; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the aforementioned honorees and Leadership Orange.
