CONGRATULATING the Schenectady Chargers 12U/PeeWee
AA Ice Hockey Team and Head Coach Wally Bzdell upon
the occasion of capturing the 2018 USA Hockey New
York State Tier II 12U Championship

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Schenectady Chargers 12U/PeeWee AA Ice Hockey Team and Head Coach Wally
Bzdell upon the occasion of capturing the 2018 USA Hockey New York State
Tier II 12U Championship; and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Chargers went 5-0 defeating teams from Long Island, Buffalo, Syracuse
and Rochester areas to capture the Championship on Sunday, March 25,
2018, in Buffalo, New York; and

WHEREAS, In addition to this monumental victory, the Chargers won
the USA Hockey New York Northern Zone Sectional Championship and the
2018 Empire Cup Tournament Championship earlier in the season; and

WHEREAS, The team's overall record of 47-10-4 is outstanding, and
the team members were loyally and enthusiastically supported by family,
fans, friends and the community at large; and

WHEREAS, Based at the Schenectady County Recreation Facility in
Glenville, New York, and the Messa Rink on the Union College campus in
Schenectady, New York, the Chargers were ranked number one in New York
State since September of 2017, and number seven in the United States out
of 1,374 teams; throughout the season the boys scored 385 goals while
only giving up 92; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as ice hockey, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Wally Bzdell and Assistant
Coaches Justin Pechar, Kevin Magaletta, Mark Sacco, Mike Rochette and
Jim Martin worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team,
teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable
both on and off the ice; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Wally Bzdell and all of the outstanding athletes
on the Schenectady Chargers 12U/PeeWee AA Ice Hockey Team have clearly
utilized dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
team; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Schenectady Chargers 12U/PeeWee AA Ice
Hockey Team: Dylan Bzdell, Thomas Hall, Marty Magaletta, Michael
Malatino, Jack Martin, Shane McKone, Jack Pechar, Zach Rochette, Matt
Sacco, Devin Shakar, Andrew Thornton, Bernie Townsend, Eric Truesdell,
Andrew Vandergriff, and Cooper Willson; Head Coach Wally Bzdell; and
Assistant Coaches Justin Pechar, Kevin Magaletta, Mark Sacco, Mike
Rochette and Jim Martin upon the occasion of capturing the 2018 USA
Hockey New York State Tier II 12U Championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Schenectady Chargers 12U/PeeWee Ice AA
Hockey Team, Head Coach Wally Bzdell, and Assistant Coaches Justin
Pechar, Kevin Magaletta, Mark Sacco, Mike Rochette and Jim Martin.
