HONORING Tim Ryan upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2018 Citizen of the
Year Award by the Town of Guilford
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Tim Ryan upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2018
Citizen of the Year Award by the Town of Guilford, to be celebrated at
its Annual Memorial Day Celebration on Monday, May 28, 2018; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Guilford, New York, Tim Ryan attended Oxford
Academy before graduating from SUNY Cobleskill and Cornell University;
he went on to earn a master's degree in Education from Syracuse
University and completed administration courses at SUNY Cortland; and
WHEREAS, Tim Ryan began his illustrious career in education as a
teacher and field hockey coach in Oxford, New York; and
WHEREAS, After moving on to teach the gifted and talented program at
Cincinnatus Central School, Tim Ryan served as Principal at Unatego
School in Otego, New York, and then as District Superintendent at Cherry
Valley Springfield Central School District; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the promotion
of education, Tim Ryan currently serves in the esteemed position of
District Superintendent at the Bainbridge-Guilford Central School
District; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this extraordinary man started an antique
business in an old Victorian home he restored in the Hamlet of Guilford;
and
WHEREAS, A caring, competent and committed leader, Tim Ryan's
character and integrity are the hallmarks of his life and work as a
school district leader, a community volunteer and as a person; and
WHEREAS, The Guilford community is indeed fortunate and blessed to
have such a dedicated and respected educational leader; his wisdom and
contributions reach into every classroom, truly making a difference in
the lives of those lucky enough to work with him; and
WHEREAS, A significant contributor to education in New York State,
Tim Ryan continually demonstrates an impressive dedication, an
unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of
the educational programs and opportunities offered at the
Bainbridge-Guilford Central School District for the benefit of its
faculty and students, as well as for the entire community; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tim Ryan upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2018 Citizen of the Year Award by the Town of Guilford; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Tim Ryan.
