COMMENDING The Honorable John P. Reali upon the
occasion of his retirement after 28 years of
distinguished service as Sea Cliff Village Justice

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those singular individuals who devote their purposeful
lives and careers to preserving the rights and protecting the welfare of
the citizens of their community and the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the Sea Cliff
community has been ably served and uniquely enriched through the
selfless dedication and benevolent concern of Judge John P. Reali; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend The
Honorable John P. Reali upon the occasion of his retirement after 28
years of distinguished service as Sea Cliff Village Justice; and

WHEREAS, John P. Reali graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Political Science from Queens College in 1957; he went on to earn his
LLB from St. John's University Law School in 1961, before serving as a
member of the United States Marine Corps until 1963; and

WHEREAS, A Village of Sea Cliff Trustee from 1980 to 1990, John P.
Reali served as liaison to the Sea Cliff Fire Department, Nassau County
Police Department and Sea Cliff Public Works Department; he was also
instrumental in the organization of the Sea Cliff Auxiliary Police; and

WHEREAS, Judge John P. Reali has served in the esteemed position of
Village Justice of Sea Cliff, New York since 1990; and

WHEREAS, Having served on the bench for nearly three decades, Judge
John P. Reali has developed an impeccable reputation for his judicial
temperament, integrity and superior settlement skills; and

WHEREAS, John P. Reali is admitted to practice in the Appellate
Division, Second Department, and the United States District Court,
Eastern District; he is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association,
New York State Bar Association, Columbian Lawyers Association of Nassau
County, Nassau County Magistrates Association, American Justinian
Society of Jurists, and the New York State Magistrates Association; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Sea Cliff, New York since 1976, Judge John P.
Reali is past President of Sea Cliff Junior Baseball, a former Sea Cliff
Junior Baseball Coach, a member and former Vice President of Sea Cliff
Civic Association, and a member of Friends of the Library; and

WHEREAS, Judge John P. Reali is the proud recipient of The Honorable
Frank J. Santagata Award from the Nassau County Magistrates Association
for his ethics, professionalism and devotion to justice; and

WHEREAS, Throughout a life and career of purposeful endeavor, Judge
John P. Reali has remained true to his commitment, serving family, faith
and community, as well as the law; his contributions and accomplishments

have brought great benefit and positive influence to bear upon the
course of jurisprudence and the quality of life for others; and

WHEREAS, Respected by both attorneys and defendants alike, Judge
John P. Reali always conducted an impartial and objective court; he
treated all defendants with compassion and dignity while at the same
time remaining fair in his rulings; and

WHEREAS, Judge John P. Reali, in every capacity in which he served,
has left his permanent mark on the criminal justice community and will
forever be remembered as a determined, innovative and genuinely
concerned expert in his field; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Honorable John P. Reali upon the occasion of his retirement
after 28 years of distinguished service as Sea Cliff Village Justice;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable John P. Reali.
