CONGRATULATING Father John Bradley upon the
occasion of his retirement after more than 51 years
of distinguished service to the Albany Roman
Catholic Diocese
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life
in this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the
faithful concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their
energies and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish
themselves and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and
preeminence of service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Father John Bradley upon the occasion of his retirement
after more than 51 years of distinguished service to the Albany Roman
Catholic Diocese; he will officially retire on Sunday, July 1, 2018; and
WHEREAS, A priest in the Albany Roman Catholic Diocese for more than
five decades, Father John Bradley served for 42 years as the spiritual
leader to the families in Blessed Sacrament Parish who have looked to
him for guidance during both the challenging and the joyous times in
their lives; and
WHEREAS, Father John Bradley has presided over countless baptisms
and funerals and officiated at over a thousand weddings, in addition to
the other daily activities of his extensive and inclusive pastoral
ministry; and
WHEREAS, His ministry has been a splendid example of service to
community, as Father John Bradley has overseen the ministry of Blessed
Sacrament Church and the Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas, as
well as the education of children in Blessed Sacrament School and
assistance to the poor and disadvantaged at the Sister Maureen Joyce
Center; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he consoles the sick at local hospitals,
nursing homes, and in their homes, and has tirelessly guided a staff of
workers and volunteers to run the various programs and events that
encompass parish life; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as spiritual leader of the Blessed
Sacrament Parish, Father John Bradley has served with loyalty, honor and
distinction, and is governed by a keen sense of duty and always shows a
unique grasp of human problems in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, Father John Bradley has brought to his ministry an
overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,
while always displaying the highest standards of personal and
professional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given
enlightenment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and
has administered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and
corporal needs of all; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Father John Bradley upon the occasion of his retirement
after more than 51 years of distinguished service to the Albany Roman
Catholic Diocese; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Father John Bradley.
