COMMENDING Egger's Ice Cream upon the occasion of
celebrating 86 years of service to Staten Island,
and commemorating the Grand Opening of a new
location in Historic Richmond Town on May 24, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
appreciate distributors and vendors as an integral part of New York,
operating as community-based small businesses and providing employment
opportunities; one such vendor is Egger's Ice Cream of Staten Island;
and
WHEREAS, Egger's Ice Cream was established in 1932 on Castleton
Avenue and Broadway next to the Capital Movie theatre by Richie Egger,
and has been serving frozen treats to the people of Staten Island ever
since; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Egger managed the ice cream parlor for 18 years, before
changing location to Forest Avenue and Barrett Street; and
WHEREAS, After several successful years in t; after 12 years of
selling cones, shakes, and sundaes, Mr. Selle decided to move location
to the present shopping center; and
WHEREAS, Egger's Ice Cream is now a family-run business, managed by
Staten Islanders Danielle Raleigh and her father, Dan Raleigh; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the joy Egger's Ice Cream
has been providing to children and adults of Staten Island for over
eight decades; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Egger's Ice Cream upon the occasion of celebrating 86 years of
service to Staten Island, and to commemorate the Grand Opening of a new
location in Historic Richmond Town on May 24, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Danielle Raleigh and Dan Raleigh, Egger's Ice Cream.
