HONORING Daisy Kavanagh upon the occasion of being
named the 2018 Senior of the Year from Warren County
on June 1, 2018
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Daisy
Kavanagh upon the occasion of being named the 2018 Senior of the Year
from Warren County at the 45th Annual Senior Luncheon on Friday, June 1,
2018, at the Holiday Inn, Lake George, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born in the Philippines, Daisy Kavanagh moved to New York
City after graduating from college; and
WHEREAS, Daisy Kavanagh spent her illustrious career as an
accountant in New York City until her retirement in 2000; three years
later, she and her husband relocated to Lake Luzerne, where they
continue to reside today; and
WHEREAS, This extraordinary woman began her volunteer work with the
New York State Ombudsman Program, visiting a nursing home in Westchester
County and addressing the concerns of its residents; she went on to give
of her time and energies preparing and filing income tax returns for
seniors in Westchester County through the AARP Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Daisy Kavanagh has continued preparing and filing income
tax returns for seniors in Warren County, and leads an Osteobuster
exercise program twice a week at the Lake Luzerne Senior Center; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Daisy Kavanagh has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, Members of older generations have helped build and shape
our Nation to be the greatest in the world; they have defended our
freedoms and values to ensure that those who come after them may have
better lives; nowhere in the Nation is the legacy of their efforts more
visible and more a part of the lives of all citizens than here in the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Daisy Kavanagh, a very active and industrious woman, has
inspired and enriched the lives of those she serves through her
volunteerism, generously sharing the wisdom gained over years of
experiencing life to its fullest; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Daisy Kavanagh upon the occasion of being named the 2018 Senior of
the Year from Warren County on June 1, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Daisy Kavanagh.
