HONORING Virginia Raymond upon the occasion of
being named the 2018 Senior of the Year from Warren
County on June 1, 2018

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Virginia
Raymond upon the occasion of being named the 2018 Senior of the Year
from Warren County at the 45th Annual Senior Luncheon on Friday, June 1,
2018, at the Holiday Inn, Lake George, New York; and

WHEREAS, Born in Vermont, Virginia "Ginny" Raymond was raised on a
farm with her 12 siblings; she spent six years in Burlington, working
for an insurance agency before becoming a military wife and traveling
all over the United States; and

WHEREAS, After moving to North Carolina in 1977, Virginia Raymond
spent her illustrious 23-year career working for a local insurance
office until her retirement in 2000; and

WHEREAS, A current resident of North Creek, New York, Virginia
Raymond has spent her retirement tirelessly volunteering for numerous
organizations, including the Johnsburg Senior Nutrition site as well as
the Town of Johnsburg Senior Center group where she has been truly
instrumental in its success; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, this extraordinary woman is the leader of the
Osteo-Busters group and a Chairperson for the Bridge Club; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Raymond is an active member of the St. James
Church, where she is past Secretary of the Parish Council; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Virginia Raymond has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her five children, 10
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who have all shown her love
and support and rejoice in her many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Members of older generations have helped build and shape
our Nation to be the greatest in the world; they have defended our
freedoms and values to ensure that those who come after them may have
better lives; nowhere in the Nation is the legacy of their efforts more
visible and more a part of the lives of all citizens than here in the
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Raymond, a very active and industrious woman, has
inspired and enriched the lives of those she serves through her

volunteerism, generously sharing the wisdom gained over years of
experiencing life to its fullest; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Virginia Raymond upon the occasion of being named the 2018 Senior
of the Year from Warren County on June 1, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Virginia Raymond.
