CONGRATULATING the North Rockland High School Boys
Bowling Team and Coach Joan Nelson upon the occasion
of capturing the NYSPHSAA Division 1 Bowling
Championship on March 11, 2018
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
North Rockland High School Boys Bowling Team and Head Coach Joan Nelson
upon the occasion of capturing their second straight NYSPHSAA Division 1
Bowling Championship on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the Onondaga County
Convention Center in Syracuse, New York; and
WHEREAS, The North Rockland High School Boys Bowling Team defeated
East Islip High School by 288 pins to best the nine-team field and
repeat as NYSPHSAA Champions; the Red Raiders are just the fifth team in
history to successfully defend their state title; and
WHEREAS, Right from the beginning, the Red Raiders led the field
with a 1,018 game, and never relinquished their lead; the team did not
make any substitutions throughout the tournament, and all five starters
finished in the top 16 of the field individually; and
WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of red and white,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Red Raiders throughout their journey as they ended their
season with an impressive overall record; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as bowling, which demands athletic prowess,
precision, and adaptability, Coach Joan Nelson and her expert coaching
staff worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team, teaching
these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable both on
and off the lanes; and
WHEREAS, Coach Joan Nelson and all of the outstanding athletes on
the North Rockland High School Boys Bowling Team have clearly utilized
dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the North Rockland High School Boys Bowling
Team: Joseph Ardiri, Dylan Bulusan, Matthew Cona, Joshua Cruz, Phoenix
Dalto, Nicholas Simeone, Nicholas Truiano, and Nicholas Varano; and
Coach Joan Nelson upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Division 1
Bowling Championship on March 11, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the North Rockland High School Boys
Bowling Team and Head Coach Joan Nelson.
