CONGRATULATING seven members of the North Rockland
Girls Indoor Track Team upon the occasion of
capturing NYSPHSAA Indoor State Championships on
March 3, 2018
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate seven
members of the North Rockland Girls Indoor Track Team upon the occasion
of capturing NYSPHSAA Indoor State Championships on Saturday, March 3,
2018, at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Athletic Complex in Staten
Island, New York; and
WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, Nadia
Saunders won the triple jump event; Katelyn Tuohy won the 1500m event;
and the 4x400 relay team, which consists of Jahlyah Goodbee, Sofia
Housman, Torre Inzar, Ivana Lopez, and Caeli Porette, won their event;
and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by these young women is due
in great part to the efforts of Coach Brian Diglio, a skilled and
inspirational tutor, respected for his ability to develop potential into
excellence; and
WHEREAS, Each athlete's overall record is outstanding; they were
loyally and enthusiastically supported by their family, fans, friends
and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, Nadia Saunders, Katelyn
Tuohy, Jahlyah Goodbee, Sofia Housman, Torre Inzar, Ivana Lopez and
Caeli Porette have proven themselves to be an unbeatable combination of
talents, reflecting favorably on their school; and
WHEREAS, Coach Brian Diglio has done a superb job in guiding,
molding and inspiring these young women towards their goals; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Coach Brian Diglio, Nadia Saunders, Katelyn
Tuohy, Jahlyah Goodbee, Sofia Housman, Torre Inzar, Ivana Lopez and
Caeli Porette have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of
excellence which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate seven members of the North Rockland Girls Indoor Track Team
upon the occasion of capturing NYSPHSAA Indoor State Championships on
March 3, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Nadia Saunders, Katelyn Tuohy, Jahlyah Goodbee, Sofia
Housman, Torre Inzar, Ivana Lopez and Caeli Porette and Coach Brian
Diglio.
