Assembly Resolution No. 190

COMMENDING Nancy L. Maron, President of the Board
of Trustees for the Yonkers Public Library, in
conjunction with Women's History Month, for her
unwavering commitment to the community of Yonkers,
New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those women of achievement within the Empire State who
have made strong contributions to their communities and who inspire
others through their model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Nancy L. Maron, President of the Board of Trustees for the
Yonkers Public Library, in conjunction with Women's History Month, for
her unwavering commitment to the families and communities of Yonkers,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Women of every race, class, and ethnic background have made
invaluable contributions to the growth and strength of New York State in
countless recorded and unrecorded ways; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the State of New York officially sets aside time
to recognize the achievements and lives of these exemplary women,
representatives of the wide-ranging and vital roles women have played in
the historic development of this great Empire State and its communities;
and
WHEREAS, A graduate of both Yale University and New York University,
Nancy L. Maron is the current President of the Board of Trustees for the
Yonkers Public Library; and
WHEREAS, In this esteemed position, Nancy L. Maron has spearheaded
several key initiatives, including a national search for Library
Director, the 2015 Library Gala, and development of the Yonkers Public
Library Strategic Plan, 2017-2021; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Nancy L. Maron is the President and Founder of
BlueSky to BluePrint, a strategic consulting firm helping publishers,
librarians, and leaders of digital initiatives to develop sustainable
business models; and
WHEREAS, Due to her ongoing fascination with all the ways that new
technology can influence the way people create, consume, and enjoy
technology, Nancy L. Maron is the author of several studies concerning
publishing, digital humanities and business models, including "The Cost
of Publishing Monographs" in 2016, and "Sustaining the Digital
Humanities: Host Institution Support beyond the Start-up Phase" in
2014; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Nancy L. Maron is active in
volunteer organizations including, Yonkers Committee for Smart
Development and the Yale Alumni Schools Committee, for which she is the
Director of Southern Westchester; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband and two
daughters, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Nancy L. Maron has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Nancy L. Maron, President of the Board of Trustees for the
Yonkers Public Library, in conjunction with Women's History Month, for
her unwavering commitment to the community of Westchester County; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Nancy L. Maron, President of the Board of Trustees for
the Yonkers Public Library.
