COMMENDING Kathy Graves, past-President of the
Longvale Homeowners Association, in conjunction with
Women's History Month, for her unwavering commitment
to the families and communities of Yonkers

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those women of achievement within the Empire State who
have made strong contributions to their communities and who inspire
others through their model citizenship; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Kathy Graves, past-President of the Longvale Homeowners
Association, in conjunction with Women's History Month, for her
unwavering commitment to the families and communities of Yonkers, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Women of every race, class, and ethnic background have made
invaluable contributions to the growth and strength of New York State in
countless recorded and unrecorded ways; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the State of New York officially sets aside time
to recognize the achievements and lives of these exemplary women,
representatives of the wide-ranging and vital roles women have played in
the historic development of this great Empire State and its communities;
and

WHEREAS, A graduate of University of Pennsylvania, Kathy Graves
received her Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia
University and went on to secure a Certificate in College Counseling
from University of California, Los Angeles; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Graves is the past-President of the Longvale
Homeowners Association, a neighborhood civic organization which she
helped revive in 2012; under her luminous leadership, the association
has become one of the most active neighborhood associations in Yonkers,
sponsoring local events from block parties to luminary nights to
community service activities; and

WHEREAS, As an advocate at the city, county and state level, Kathy
Graves worked for better storm water management to protect the quality
of life in communities along the Bronx River and the Sprain Brook; due
to her dedication, she was able to help secure a grant for Yonkers to
study storm recovery and resilience; and

WHEREAS, For her tireless efforts, Kathy Graves was appointed to the
Yonkers New York Rising Community Reconstruction Committee, sponsored by
the Governor's Office of Storm Recovery; she also serves as a community
representative to the Bronx River Advisory Board; and

WHEREAS, In addition to caring for her community, Kathy Graves owns
and operates her own consulting firm, Admissions Blueprint, where she
counsels college-bound students through the admissions process; and


WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Kathy Graves has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kathy Graves, past-President of the Longvale Homeowners
Association, in conjunction with Women's History Month, for her
unwavering commitment to the families and communities of Yonkers, New
York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kathy Graves, past-President, Longvale Homeowners
Association.
