COMMEMORATING the 2017 Dreams of Greatness Gala on
March 26, 2017

WHEREAS, The Women of New York State provide crucial services every
day that help in the advancement of the State overall; and

WHEREAS, The dedication and sacrifices of the women in New York
State ensure our continued role as a State that actively seeks to honor
the diligent men and women across this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
2017 Dreams of Greatness Gala to be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017, in
Westbury, New York, and hosted by Reverend Emmanuel Asse; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is also proud to recognize Reverend
Emmanuel Asse for the tireless work he has shown with The Dreams of
Greatness Gala; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to show appreciation to all the
distinguished honorees, and the crucial services they have provided for
the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body would specifically like to
acknowledge the successes of one such honoree, Soma Syed, for her many
professional achievements; and

WHEREAS, Soma Syed believes in civic participation and giving back
to the community; her sense of duty to her community has been shaped by
her parents who were public servants, educators, freedom fighters, and
advocates for women's rights and education; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 2017 Dreams of Greatness Gala on March 26, 2017, and to
pay just tribute to Soma Syed; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Reverend Emmanuel Asse, and Soma Syed.
