RECOGNIZING the Bangladeshi American Advocacy
Group on April 4, 2017, for many years of support
and advocacy on behalf of Bangladesh Americans in
New York State
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with
its time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those
organizations which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of
cultural diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of
New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
recognize the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group on April 4, 2017, for
many years of support and advocacy on behalf of Bangladesh Americans in
New York State; and
WHEREAS, The Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group is a not-for-profit
organization which seeks to give a voice to the Bangladesh Americans
living throughout the State of New York; the Bangladeshi American
Advocacy Group's primary mission is to bring social and political
equality in order to improve the quality of life of Bangladesh
Americans; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 2011 by several Bangladesh immigrants, the
Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group strives to give Bangladesh Americans
a voice, and to encourage them to demand equal political rights, as well
as raise their quality of life; and
WHEREAS, The Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group hopes to achieve
these goals by sharing the Bangladesh American community's political and
social concerns to various federal, state, and local elected officials;
and
WHEREAS, The Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group speaks up for the
rights of all Bangladesh Americans and seeks to bring positive changes
to the Bangladesh American community; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group is an
umbrella organization which creates, supports, and sponsors initiatives
and programs to help Bangladeshis living in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, A civic engagement organization, the Bangladeshi American
Advocacy Group engages in multicultural events, seminars, programs and
city services that will assist monolingual and bilingual people of
Bangladeshi origin; this organization is committed to working with
government agencies, community based organizations, and elected
officials to better the lives of the Bangladesh American community; and
WHEREAS, The Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group identifies and
addresses issues of importance to the Bangladesh American community and
similarly situated South Asian Groups through collaboration with
governmental agencies and elected officials; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations which contribute to the improvement
and enhancement of the quality of life in the communities they
represent; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proudly moved to honor and commend
the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group, which has labored so
conscientiously to secure and improve the quality of life for the
residents and community it serves, noting the significance of its
unremitting efforts to build a commonality of interest and pride of
cooperative achievement, inherent in the values of community and family
life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group on April 4, 2017, for
many years of support and advocacy on behalf of Bangladesh Americans in
the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group.
