HONORING Dan Kennedy upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Capital District
YMCA President's Award on May 4, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dan Kennedy upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Capital District YMCA President's Award to be celebrated on Thursday,
May 4, 2017, at the Albany Marriott, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Dan Kennedy is being recognized with this auspicious award
for displaying a deep commitment to strengthening the community and for
sharing the YMCA's passion for helping those in need in every community
of the Capital District; and
WHEREAS, The true embodiment of what the YMCA stands for, Dan
Kennedy is kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and above all, proud to serve
others; and
WHEREAS, Dan Kennedy was first introduced to YMCA Camp Chingachgook
as the father of three campers; absorbing the love and magic of the camp
experience, he transformed from parent to volunteer, sharing his love of
sailing with the Y-Knot adaptive sailing program, and providing
visionary leadership to the camp's Council of Advisors as Vice Chair,
Financial Development Chair and member of several committees; and
WHEREAS, In his role as sales executive for Avaya Communications,
Dan Kennedy provides leadership to the telecommunications sales force;
his persuasive and informed style has proved highly beneficial as a
Capital District YMCA volunteer; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dan Kennedy has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dan Kennedy has displayed
over the years; he has exhibited the true spirit of this esteemed award
through his tireless dedication to the YMCA and his community; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Dan Kennedy, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dan Kennedy upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Capital District YMCA President's Award on May 4, 2017; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dan Kennedy.
