HONORING Kenneth D. Roberts upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the John T. Mather
Founder's Award by the Golf Classic Committee on
June 5, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those
individuals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kenneth D. Roberts upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the John T. Mather Founder's Award by the Golf Class Committee to be
celebrated at its 32nd Annual Mather Golf Classic on Monday, June 5,
2017, at the Port Jefferson Country Club in Port Jefferson, New York;
and

WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Roberts is receiving this prestigious award for
his steadfast and unremitting commitment to the John T. Mather Memorial
Hospital; and

WHEREAS, This popular annual event helps to raise funds for the
Nursing Education Program at the John T. Mather Memorial Hospital;
better education ensures patients receive the high quality,
cost-effective services they deserve and the health of its community
continues to improve; and

WHEREAS, The Nursing Education Program offers ongoing updates and
training in clinical practice areas whereby, increasing nurses' skill
levels and providing its patients with the best care possible; the John
T. Mather Memorial Hospital has earned the prestigious Magnet
designation which recognizes healthcare organizations for quality
patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing
practices; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Roberts earned his Bachelor of Science degree in
Economics from the State University of New York in Oneonta; he furthered
his education by obtaining his Master of Business Administration in
Finance degree from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, and his
Master of Public Administration in Health Policy, Planning and
Administration from New York University in New York, New York; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Roberts began his long and distinguished career
in medical administration as a Senior Staff Assistant for Group Health
Incorporated in New York; he then held the position of Assistant
Director of Administration and Administrative Resident at South Nassau
Communities Hospital in Oceanside, New York; and

WHEREAS, In 1986, Kenneth D. Roberts was appointed President of the
John T. Mather Hospital, after having served as Senior Vice President
and Associate Director; and


WHEREAS, In addition to his position at the John T. Mather Hospital,
Kenneth D. Roberts holds the title of President of the Board of
Directors of Mather Health System, Inc., Mather Management Corporation
and the JTM Health Facilities Foundation; he is also the Secretary and
member of Island Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and INRC Services
Corporation; and

WHEREAS, Moreover, Kenneth D. Roberts is a participant of the Board
of Directors of the Hospital Association of New York State, the Board of
Directors and Executive Committee of Medical Liability Mutual Insurance
Company, and the Chairman of the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council; and

WHEREAS, For his outstanding contributions to the medical
administration field, Kenneth D. Roberts is a Fellow of the American
College of Healthcare Executives and the recipient of the 2011 Monsignor
Thomas J. Hartman Humanitarian Award and The 2015 Long Island Business
News Outstanding CEO Award; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Robert's ongoing efforts and notable
achievements have significantly contributed to bettering the quality of
life in his community; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, he continuously displayed initiative
and an unrelenting commitment when pursuing the highest of goals, and he
has served as a role model of leadership to be emulated by all; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kenneth D. Roberts upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the John T. Mather Founder's Award by the Golf Classic
Committee; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kenneth D. Roberts.
