HONORING Peter F. Lane, Esq. upon the occasion of
his designation as Guest of Honor by the Catholic
Lawyers Guild of Queens County on May 25, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Peter F. Lane, Esq. upon the occasion of his designation as Guest of
Honor by the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Queens County on Thursday, May
25, 2017, at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston, Queens; and

WHEREAS, Peter F. Lane received a Bachelor of Arts degree from New
York University in 1988, and his Juris Doctor degree from St. John's Law
School in 1991; he is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the
State of New Jersey, the United States District Courts for the Southern
and Eastern Districts of New York and the United States Supreme Court;
and

WHEREAS, During law school, Peter F. Lane completed a full-time work
internship program in the United States Attorney's Office (SDNY), and as
judicial intern to United States District Court Judge Robert P.
Patterson Jr.; and

WHEREAS, After graduation, Peter F. Lane worked as an Associate in
the Law Offices of Mordente and Golfinopoulos P.C., and accepted a
position as counsel to a New York State Assemblyman before starting his
own private law practice; and

WHEREAS, Peter F. Lane was appointed to Community Board No. 7 in
Flushing, New York, in 1993; during his tenure, he participated in the
New York City budget process and advised on significant land use
projects including the expansion of the United States Tennis Association
National Tennis Center, the development of Flushing Meadows Aquatic
Center and World Ice Arena, and the expansion of the Queens Borough
Public Library; and

WHEREAS, In 1995, Peter F. Lane was appointed as Principal Law Clerk
to the Honorable Thomas V. Polizzi, working in the civil term of the
Queens Supreme Court; upon Justice Polizzi's retirement in 2006, he was
appointed by the Honorable Leslie G. Leach as Court Attorney/Referee in
the Queens Supreme Court; and

WHEREAS, Peter F. Lane was appointed in 2007, as Principal Law Clerk
to the Honorable Robert L. Nahman, the Surrogate of the Queens County;
since 2008, he has served as a Court Attorney/Referee in the Queens
County Surrogate's Court, presently working for the Honorable Peter J.
Kelly; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his working duties, Peter F. Lane served as
President of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Queens County fom 2008 to
2014, and as President of the Association of Law Secretaries to Justices
of the Supreme and Surrogate's Courts in the City of New York in 2007;
he has also been teaching at St. John's Law School in its continuing
legal education program annually since 2006; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Peter F. Lane volunteers for the Diocese of Brooklyn's
Catholic Youth Organization as a swimming coach for team L.I.A.M.
encompassing Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Incarnation Church, American
Martyrs and Our Lady of the Snows; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, he gives of his time and energies to Boy Scout
Troop 142, where his children are scouts, and has volunteered in the
diocesan music ministry with the St. Luke's Folk Group, Whitestone,
since 1992; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Peter F. Lane has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Peter F. Lane, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Peter F. Lane, Esq. upon the occasion of his designation as Guest
of Honor by the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Queens County on May 25, 2017;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Peter F. Lane, Esq.
