HONORING Hospice of Westchester upon the occasion
of its designation for special recognition by the
Wainwright House on May 18, 2017

WHEREAS, In the course of the evolving development of this Empire
State, if the ingredients of shared concern and responsive endeavor
combine in the commitment to society, there have emerged among the
distinguished citizens of the State of New York certain organizations
which warrant special recognition; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Hospice of Westchester upon the occasion of its designation for special
recognition by the Wainwright House, to be celebrated at its 5th Annual
Heart & Soul Awards Luncheon on Thursday, May 18, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, Hospice of Westchester
provides extraordinary and dignified comfort care and compassion to
individuals and families facing a serious or life limiting illness; and

WHEREAS, Hospice of Westchester brings together a team of specially
trained professionals and volunteers who work with the patient's
physician to develop an individualized plan of care designed to control
pain and ease end of life struggles for its patients and their families;
and

WHEREAS, The Hospice Team is made up of professionals from multiple
disciplines and specially trained volunteers who work under the
direction of our hospice medical director; and

WHEREAS, When terminally ill patients are supported by Hospice of
Westchester's interdisciplinary team of skilled palliative care
specialists and volunteers, the last stages of life can become a
comfortable and treasured time of new hope and healing; and

WHEREAS, Hospice of Westchester is a truly caring community in which
patients can find new meaning, restored integrity, and a dignified close
to life; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, Hospice of Westchester has
demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities which
it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of Hospice of Westchester is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its staff and volunteers, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of

excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Hospice of Westchester;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Hospice of Westchester upon the occasion of its designation for
special recognition by the Wainwright House on May 18, 2017; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Hospice of Westchester.
