COMMEMORATING the 75th Anniversary of Nunn's Home
Medical Equipment of Rome, New York, on June 8, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Nunn's Home Medical Equipment, to be
celebrated at a party on Thursday, June 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Nunn's Home Medical Equipment was founded by Martin J. Nunn
in 1942; since then, it has remained a family business, specializing in
home medical equipment; the company networks with the best providers and
professionals to give its customers the highest quality products,
personal service, and individual attention; and

WHEREAS, Martin J. Nunn started his business after a friend of his
could not find a wheelchair; he ordered one wheelchair and 12 were
delivered; since he did not need all of them, he decided to sell or rent
them to those who did, and subsequently, Nunn's Home Medical Equipment
was founded; and

WHEREAS, Today, after 70 plus years of business, Nunn's Home Medical
Equipment still remains in the family; for 27 years the business was run
by Sheila Nunn Murphy, her sister Nancy Nunn Ryan, and brother-in-law
Joe Ryan; after Nancy and Joe retired in 2012, the business was passed
on to Sheila, her daughter, Erin, and son-in-law, Shawn Weiman; and

WHEREAS, The success of Nunn's Home Medical Equipment is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its staff which includes certified
respiratory therapists, friendly and knowledgeable customer service
representatives, certified fitters of therapeutic shoes and mastectomy
products, highly trained delivery and service staff, and an experienced
billing staff, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized
by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an
uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the
institution and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, Nunn's Home Medical Equipment carries a full line of home
medical equipment and homecare supplies, including oxygen and sleep
therapy equipment, such as CPAP and BIPAPs; most equipment can be rented
by the day, week or month, and disposable supplies can be purchased by
the case quantity at great savings; and

WHEREAS, For 75 years, Nunn's Home Medical Equipment has strived to
improve the health of those it serves with a commitment to excellence in
all that it does through quality care and programs which set community
standards, exceed patients' expectations and are provided in a caring,
convenient, cost-effective and accessible manner; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
businesses within the State of New York which contribute to the economic
health and vitality of the communities they serve; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Nunn's Home Medical Equipment of
Rome, New York, on June 8, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sheila Nunn Murphy, and Erin and Shawn Weiman, Owners,
Nunn's Home Medical Equipment.
