Assembly Resolution No. 484

COMMENDING Sidney Elks Lodge No. 2175 upon the
occasion of its designation as recipieint of the
2017 Business of the Years Award by the Sidney
Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are greatly enriched by the compassionate commitment of those
dedicated organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to
the welfare of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Sidney Elks Lodge No. 2175 upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the 2017 Business of the Years Award by the Sidney
Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at its annual dinner on Friday,
June 2, 2017, at the Sidney Elks Club in Sidney, New York; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Sidney Elks Lodge No. 2175 has
been serving its community and surrounding areas; with the help of four
part-time employees and endless volunteers, they have spent countless
hours giving back and supporting the town of Sidney; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to local youth, the Sidney Elks Lodge No. 2175's
efforts include the Annual Kids Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Party, bike
donation for the youth triathlon, Elks National Foundation Scholarship,
Donation to the Eagle Scout projects, annual donation to the Tri-Town
Youth Club, Coats for Kids and donation of the field for the Sidney
Youth Soccer practices and games; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Sidney Elks Lodge No. 2175 has been involved
with numerous services to veterans, including its Annual Christmas gift
drive for the Oxford Veterans Home, donations to the Veteran's Memorial
Park and volunteering the use of facilities for the dedication ceremony
and the Veteran's Dinner held for all local veterans; and

WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons and
organizations that provide exemplary service, whether through
participation in voluntary programs, through unique personal achievement
in their profession or other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of
good citizenship; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sidney Elks Lodge No. 2175 upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the 2017 Business of the Years Award by the Sidney
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sidney Elks Lodge No. 2175.
