COMMENDING the Midlakes Primary and Intermediate
School Libraries upon the occasion of its
designation as an Honorable Mention in the 2017
School Library of the Year Contest by the Rochester
Regional Library Council
WHEREAS, School library programs provide the means for students to
enter a lifetime of learning while gaining cultural understanding and
the enhancement of global communication skills; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across the great
State of New York is reflective of certain exemplary library
institutions whose purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the
needs of its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Midlakes Primary and Intermediate Schools Libraries upon the
occasion of its designation as an Honorable Mention in the 2017 School
Library of the Year Contest by the Rochester Regional Library Council,
to be celebrated at its Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at
Casa Larga, Fairport, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC) is a
multi-type library network serving libraries and library systems in the
five-county Rochester region of Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and
Wyoming counties; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the RRLC recognizes outstanding school libraries
which provide exceptional service to students in the community; and
WHEREAS, The Midlakes School Libraries have served as an invaluable
resource for its students, teachers, administrators, and parents for
many years; and
WHEREAS, An integral part of its community, this remarkable
institution has strived to create an effective and enjoyable learning
environment, while instilling a love of reading in the many young
children it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Midlakes School Libraries is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of this institution and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous guidance of Librarian Heather Bradley,
the Midlakes School Libraries will continue to help students to inquire,
think critically, and create and share knowledge for many more years to
come; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
institutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Midlakes Primary and Intermediate School Libraries upon the
occasion of its designation as an Honorable Mention in the 2017 School
Library of the Year Contest by the Rochester Regional Library Council;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Heather Bradley, Librarian, Midlakes Primary and
Intermediate School Libraries.
