CONGRATULATING the Watkins Glen Boys Varsity Cross
Country Team and Coach John Fazzary upon the
occasion of capturing the New York State Cross
Country Federation Championship

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Watkins Glen Boys Varsity Cross Country Team and Coach John Fazzary upon
the occasion of capturing the New York State Cross Country Federation
Championship on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Bowdoin Park in
Wappingers Falls, New York; the Senecas earned 145 points, edging out
Burnt Hills-Ballston Spa High School by nine points; and

WHEREAS, Prior to this monumental achievement, the Watkins Glen Boys
Varsity Cross Country Team won the NYSPHSAA Class C Championship on
Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Chenango Valley State Park; to the
praise and applause of their excited fans, the Senecas brought home
their first ever state title in the school's history; and

WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of navy blue and
maroon, family, friends, and the community at large loyally and
enthusiastically supported the Senecas throughout their journey as they
ended their season with an impressive overall record; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as cross country, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach John Fazzary and Assistant Coach
Rod Weeden worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team,
teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable
both on and off the course; and

WHEREAS, Coach John Fazzary and all of the outstanding athletes on
the Watkins Glen Boys Varsity Cross Country Team have clearly utilized
dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Watkins Glen Boys Varsity Cross Country
Team: Jacob Carocci, Tyler Couch, Clint Craven, Maxwell Evans, Alex
Gibson, Steven Gublo, Sam Hanley, Patrick Hazlitt, Elliott Holland, Sean
Holland, Isaac McIlroy, Daniel Paradiso, Aaron Planty, Gabe Planty,
Shawn Rutledge, Tanner Ryan, Julian Thornton, Sam Thorsland, Conlin
Wysocki and William Yeater; Head Coach John Fazzary and Assistant Coach

Rod Weeden upon the occasion of capturing the New York State Cross
Country Federation Championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Watkins Glen Boys Varsity Cross
Country Team, Head Coach John Fazzary and Assistant Coach Rod Weeden.
