CONGRATULATING Jeri Mendelsohn, LCSW upon the
occasion of her retirement after many years of
distinguished service to both the Samuel Field Young
Men and Young Women Hebrew Association and the
Central Queens Young Men and Young Women Hebrew
Association

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Jeri Mendelsohn upon the occasion of her retirement after
many years of distinguished service to both the Samuel Field Young Men
and Young Women Hebrew Association and the Central Queens Young Men and
Young Women Hebrew Association; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious event will be celebrated at a Dinner on
Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at the Glen Head Country Club in Glen Head, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Jeri Mendelsohn has over 30 years of experience in the
development and implementation of programs and services for people with
disabilities, with particular concentration on Early Intervention
Services as well as the creation of programs which foster the inclusion
of people with disabilities of all ages within their communities; and

WHEREAS, For 12 years, Jeri Mendelsohn has served as the Associate
Executive Director of the Samuel Field YM and YWHA; in this capacity,
she was responsible for this vital agency's extensive array of social
services programs including Early Childhood and Parenting Programs,
Services to Individuals with Disabilities, Mental Health and Family
Violence Services, the Single Parent Center, Staff Development, and
Graduate Education; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Jeri Mendelsohn holds the title of both
Executive Vice-President and CEO of the Samuel Field YM and YWHA and the
Central Queens YM and YWHA, multi-service communal organizations which
serve the Borough of Queens with a diverse array of social services,
educational and social/recreational programs for people of all ages,
abilities and life stages; she will officially retire from this position
on June 30, 2017; and

WHEREAS, As CEO, Jeri Mendelsohn assists approximately 35,000 people
each year at 33 sites including three large community centers as well as
Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village in Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the Samuel Field YM and YWHA
and the Central Queens YM and YWHA, Jeri Mendelsohn serves as the
Co-Chairperson of the UJA-Federation of New York's Task Force on People
with Disabilities; and


WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Jeri Mendelsohn served both the
Samuel Field Young Men (YM) and Young Women Hebrew Association (YWHA)
and the Central Queens YM and YWHA with intelligence and caring
dedication, continuously striving to effectively fulfill the duties of
her position; and

WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with
whom she worked, Jeri Mendelsohn will be remembered for her honesty,
integrity, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of
human problems in her official acts; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jeri Mendelsohn, LCSW upon the occasion of her retirement
after many years of distinguished service to both the Samuel Field Young
Men and Young Women Hebrew Association and the Central Queens Young Men
and Young Women Hebrew Association, and to wish her continued success in
all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jeri Mendelsohn, LCSW.
