COMMENDING Dr. Louis M. Green upon the occasion of
his retirement after more than 40 years of
practicing internal medicine in the Central New York
community
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to recognize and honor those
distinguished citizens within our midst, who have devoted themselves to
improving the health and well-being of the residents of their
communities; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of such esteemed
individuals of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York, there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
deserve the respect and admiration of their community for their
contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr. Louis M. Green upon the occasion of his retirement after more than
40 years of practicing internal medicine in the Central New York
community; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Louis M. Green was born in Schenectady New York, to Dr.
Manual Green and Stella Green, and was raised with his three siblings,
Rosamund, Jean and William; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Louis M. Green graduated in 1971 from Yale University
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology; continuing his education,
he then graduated from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University
of Pennsylvania in 1975 and subsequently moved to Syracuse to complete
his residency in internal medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University
from 1976-1978; and
WHEREAS, In 1978, Dr. Louis M. Green became a certified doctor in
the State of New York and was hired to the position of Instructor for
the General Medicine Section Department of Medicine at SUNY Upstate
Medical University; and
WHEREAS, One year later Dr. Louis M. Green opened a private practice
in the City of Syracuse, specializing in internal medicine to provide
long-term, comprehensive care to adolescents, adults and the elderly,
while helping to diagnose and treat cancer and other diseases that
affect the heart, blood, kidneys, joints, digestive, and respiratory and
vascular systems; and
WHEREAS, In 1993, Dr. Louis M. Green joined the team at Internist
Associates of Central New York (IACNY) in downtown Syracuse, which was
eventually acquired by Crouse Hospital in 2010; since then, he has been
an internist with IACNY, Crouse Medical Practice (CMP); he will
officially retire on January 27, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Admired and respected by his patients and colleagues, Dr.
Louis M. Green has and continues to serve as a member of several medical
organizations including: American College of Physicians; American
Society of Internal Medicine; New York State Society of Internal
Medicine; and the Onondaga County Medical Society; and
WHEREAS, Along Dr. Louis M. Green's successful journey has stood his
supportive family, including his wife, Dr. Nanette Sable, and their
three children, Aaron, Ethan and Sarah, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated professionals, who unselfishly devote their lives to the
health and well-being of a community, are worthy of the praise of the
State of New York for their commitment and contributions to the
betterment of society; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Louis M. Green upon the occasion of his retirement after
more than 40 years of practicing internal medicine in the Central New
York community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
hereby transmitted to Dr. Louis M. Green.
