COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of Feigenbaum
Cleaners

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those
businesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves
through outstanding professional behavior and enduring commitment to the
community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Feigenbaum Cleaners; this momentous
occasion was celebrated with cakes at their four stores, and a dinner at
Dunham's Bay, Lake George, New York; and

WHEREAS, Herman and Jennie Feigenbaum, Austrian-Hungarian
immigrants, founded Feigenbaum Cleaners in May of 1917; and

WHEREAS, Herman Feigenbaum was a tailor in New York City who took
his family north intending to buy a tailor shop in Whitehall; on the
way, they spent the night in Glens Falls, fell in love with the city,
and decided to stay; and

WHEREAS, During this time, Herman and Jennie Feigenbaum opened a
tailor shop on South Street and soon added dry cleaning at their home on
Fulton Street; all six of their children worked in the family business;
and

WHEREAS, Dry cleaning moved to Bay Street in 1947, after sons Louis
and Bill returned from service in the Second World War; additions to the
building, including a large fur vault, were made in 1952; and

WHEREAS, Louis and Bill Feigenbaum ran the business after their
parents retired; Herman died in 1958, and Jennie died in 1969; and

WHEREAS, Today, this illustrious business is operated by Todd
Feigenbaum, Herman and Jennie's grandson, along with his wife, Julie,
and their business partner, Bonnie Smith; over the last three decades,
additional stores have opened in Queensbury, Saratoga Springs and Wilton
for customers to drop off and pick up items; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Feigenbaum family has taken pride
in providing its customers with quality clothing care; and

WHEREAS, In addition to dry cleaning, Feigenbaum Cleaners provides
professional alterations and repairs; leather cleaning and repairs;
drapery cleaning; fur cleaning, repairs, and storage; winter wardrobe
storage; wedding gown preservation; rug and pillow cleaning, and fire
and water damage restoration; and

WHEREAS, The success of Feigenbaum Cleaners is in direct correlation
to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and

an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the business and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to
enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Feigenbaum Cleaners; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Feigenbaum Cleaners.
