COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of the Corning
Area Women's Club on February 13, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations within the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Corning Area Women's Club, to
be celebrated at its Birthday Event on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at
The Radisson Hotel in Corning, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since 1918, the Corning Area Women's Club (CAWC) has
graciously supported community service programs through volunteerism
activities, and monetary and various other donations; and
WHEREAS, CAWC consists of volunteers who are encouraged to serve as
active members in their community and to participate in numerous
Club-sponsored events; this vital organization is devoted to charitable,
literary, civic and education purposes; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the last century, CAWC has actively taken part
in many community endeavors such as sponsoring Corning Community College
Scholarship Awards; and
WHEREAS, Through various fundraisers such as cookie sales, Theater
Luncheon, raffles, and a Silent Auction, the CAWC supports numerous
worthy organizations including Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army Food Bank
and Red Kettle, Corning Community Pantry, Painted Post Churches Pantry,
Head Start, Founders Pavilion, Girl Scout Council, American Red Cross,
Southeast Steuben County Library, Camp Good Days, United Way, C-PP
Historical Society, VA Center in Bath, Jennie Mose Resource Center in
Addison, Ronald McDonald House, and Court Appointed Special Advocates,
as well as DV/Net; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Corning Area Women's Club is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its members, past and present, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Corning Area Women's Club on
February 13, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Corning Area Women's Club.
