LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the
Corning-Painted Post High School Competition Band
upon the occasion of winning the 2017 Large School
Division 3 New York State Field Band Conference
Championship on October 29, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish themselves
through excellence in musical competition; and

WHEREAS, Music competition provides an opportunity for students to
exhibit their practical skills to an audience, thereby giving them a
sense of pride in their hard work and efforts; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Corning-Painted Post High School Competition Band upon
the occasion of winning the 2017 Large School Division 3 New York State
Field Band Conference Championship; and

WHEREAS, Consisting of 44 wind players, 18 percussionists, 19 Color
Guard members, three Drum Majors, and two field crew members, the
Corning-Painted Post High School Competition Band traveled to the
Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York, on Sunday, October 29, to capture
this monumental victory; and

WHEREAS, When it was time to perform, each and every member of the
Corning-Painted Post High School Competition Band had in mind the goal
of representing themselves, their school and their community by
performing with the highest standard of excellence; and

WHEREAS, The musical arrangement performed by the Corning-Painted
Post High School Competition Band was entitled "The Power of 3hree,"
which explores the mystery of this powerful number through three
segments, from pyramids, to Holy Trinity, to Third Rock from the Sun;
and

WHEREAS, The dedicated students performed music from some of the
best contemporary concert band arrangers in the world, all while
marching to choreographed drills and maneuvers; the Color Guard
performed a first class routine designed by some of the best instructors
in the country; and

WHEREAS, The Band faced stiff competition from six other schools in
their class to win the Championship with a score of 84.700, beating the
second place team by a very close margin; and

WHEREAS, On their way home, the Corning-Painted Post High School
Competition Band was proudly escorted back to school by their many fans
and supporters; and

WHEREAS, No marching band can succeed without outstanding talent
throughout its entire roster; such was the case for the 2017

Corning-Painted Post High School Competition Band whose members include:

Concetta Brockway, Hannah Lovgren, Jaden Hurley, Dom Grinnell, Roy

Williams, Arianna Pereira, Jonathan Morse, Alex Bennitt, Meagan Malarky,

Morgan Lakota, Greg Lakota, Emily Farley, Rebekah Knarr, Marshall
Mitchell, Harley Correll, Gabrielle Bertrand, Alexis Erhardt, Chenowa
Skinner, Georgia Smith, Dilann Harris, Christine McGrew, Sydney Crouch,
Emma Stanton, Kayla Farley, Madison Jake, Jacob Serdula, Lilly
McLaughlin, Matt Savoy, Aubrey Bowes, Rebecca Squire, Gabrielle Gerbino,
and Emily Harrison; and

WHEREAS, It should be further noted that excellence in field band is
possible only through vigorous practice and discipline, habits that will
guide these young musicians to a lifetime of success in the musical
field or other career fields; and

WHEREAS, The Corning-Painted Post High School Competition Band's
achievements stand as a proud testament to the leadership of Band
Director Joe Stork, the hard work of its members and the dedication of
its parents, teachers, administration and community-at-large,
illustrating the spirit of excellence and achievement which is
Corning-Painted Post High School's hallmark and tradition; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the members of the Corning-Painted Post High School Competition
Band, who positively represent their school, who are role models to
their classmates, who exemplify the marching band's goal of continued
excellence, and who have brought great pride to their community; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Corning-Painted Post High School
Competition Band, and Joe Stork, Band Director.
