CONGRATULATING Kevin Gallagher upon the occasion
of his induction into the New York State Wrestling
Hall of Fame on February 24, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Kevin Gallagher upon the occasion of his induction into the
New York State Wrestling Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at
the Times Union Center, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Gallagher has built Minisink Valley Wrestling into a
consistently, state-ranked program since he took over as head coach in
the 2000-01 season; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his 18 extraordinary seasons with the team,
Kevin Gallagher instilled in his wrestlers that the foundation of their
success was based on hard work, a no-excuses mentality, and overcoming
adversity; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Kevin Gallagher, Minisink
Valley has won five Section 9 tournament team titles and a Section 9
Duals title in the 2014-15 season, finishing that season ranked as the
State's number one Division 1 team; additionally, the team won its
second state title in 2016; and

WHEREAS, A 1977 Minisink Valley graduate, Kevin Gallagher has
compiled a 428-96 dual-meet record over 26 seasons, including stops at
Middletown and Oxford Academy; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Gallagher was just 23 years old when he was named
Middletown Head Coach for the 1983-84 season; two years later he was
hired to lead Wagner College's Division 1 program as the youngest
Division 1 Coach in the country; and

WHEREAS, Coaches such as Kevin Gallagher provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Kevin Gallagher for
his extraordinary coaching accomplishments which are a tribute to his
skill, dedication and commitment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Kevin Gallagher upon the occasion of his induction into the
New York State Wrestling Hall of Fame on February 24, 2018; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kevin Gallagher.
