Senate Resolution No. 5868

COMMENDING the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts of
the Republic of Kazakhstan upon the occasion of the
opening of the "At the Crossroads of Asia and
Europe" Exhibit at the National Arts Club, New York,
New York from June 18-July 15, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality
of life of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly enriched by
its exceptional cultural, educational and recreational institutions; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of
Kazakhstan upon the occasion of the opening of the "At the Crossroads of
Asia and Europe" Exhibit at the National Arts Club, New York, New York
from June 18-July 15, 2018; and

WHEREAS, The A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of
Kazakhstan is the largest art museum and the country's leading research,
cultural and educational fine arts center; the museum's rich, diverse,
precious collection gives a lively idea of the artistic culture of
Kazakhstan, Europe and Asia, old masters and contemporary artists; and

WHEREAS, In 1935, the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts was
established when the former Government of Kazakhstan issued a decree as
of September 23rd about organizing the Kazakh State Art Gallery; and

WHEREAS, Special attention in this decree was paid to the 15th
Anniversary of Kazakh Socialist Soviet Republic Art Exhibition and many
art works of this exhibition were purchased and became the original base
of its collection; and

WHEREAS, Today, with more than 25,000 art objects, the museum has
become a main attraction, organizing solo exhibitions of artists of
Kazakhstan, as well as foreign artists and exhibitions of private
collections, which bring large numbers of visitors; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts hosts
thematic guided tours, and scientific conferences, seminars and round
tables, as well as lectures on Kazakhstan and world art history; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, the A. Kasteyev State
Museum of Arts has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its dedicated staff, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
institutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of
Kazakhstan upon the occasion of the opening of the "At the Crossroads of
Asia and Europe" Exhibit at the National Arts Club, New York, New York
from June 18-July 15, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of
Kazakhstan.
