HONORING Kim Roll upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Outstanding Director
of the Year Award by the New York School Nutrition
Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kim Roll upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Outstanding Director of the Year Award by the New York School Nutrition
Association; and

WHEREAS, Kim Roll is being recognized with this auspicious award for
her outstanding contribution as a food service director who manages an
effective program which provides healthful, appetizing and nutritious
meals to students; and

WHEREAS, As Food Service Director for the Ken-Ton School District,
Kim Roll is responsible for all aspects of food service operations,
including budgeting, staffing, training and marketing, as well as
championing the benefits of these programs to students, the education
community and the public; and

WHEREAS, Kim Roll ensures breakfast and lunch options are not only
healthy, made from wholesome ingredients and in compliance with complex
state and federal requirements, but are also appealing to children and
teenagers; she must also accommodate students with special dietary
restrictions; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Kim Roll, the Ken-Ton School
District's breakfast and lunch program serves approximately 3,500
students for lunch and 1,700 for breakfast across 10 buildings; all
meals meet requirements based on U.S. Department of Agriculture dietary
guidelines and reflect the most important principles of maintaining a
healthy diet; and

WHEREAS, Kim Roll has worked tirelessly to promote participation in
the breakfast and lunch program while offering healthy and innovative
options and connecting students to unique opportunities, such as special
partnerships with the Buffalo Bills and NFL Fuel Up to Play 60; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious 18-year career as Food Service
Director, Kim Roll and Ken-Ton School District have received multiple
honors, including numerous New York State Best Practices Awards and
HealthierUS School Challenge Awards, as well as a first-place showing
for breakfast expansion from the American Dairy Association; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Kim Roll was the proud recipient of the 2016
Western New York Educational Service Council Award for Excellence; and

WHEREAS, The success of Ken-Ton School District's Food Service
program is in direct correlation to the efforts of Kim Roll, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the school, its students and
the community-at-large; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kim Roll upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Outstanding Director of the Year Award by the New York School Nutrition
Association; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kim Roll.
