COMMEMORATING the 175th Anniversary of the United
Methodist Church of Monticello, New York on
September 27, 2019
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 175th Anniversary of the United Methodist Church of
Monticello, New York, to be celebrated on Friday, September 27, 2019;
and
WHEREAS, Dedicated on September 24, 1844, the United Methodist
Church of Monticello is a welcoming and diverse congregation which
worships God in spirit and in truth, caring for one another in Christian
love, and extending compassionate outreach to its congregation,
community, and the world; and
WHEREAS, The United Methodist Church of Monticello offers numerous
programs and organizations for the needs of its members, including
religious services, Bible study, weekly phone prayer meetings and
monthly coffee hour; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to its
community, the United Methodist Church of Monticello hosts a Clothing
Drive and Emergency Food Drive to benefit those in need; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the church established Lucy's Pet Pantry and
Noah's Arch Thrift Shop, as well as the Open Table Community Meal, a
free soup and sandwich for all each Saturday afternoon; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Reverend Jacqueline F.
Carter, the United Methodist Church of Monticello stands on the
threshold of tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming
decades while retaining that spiritual resolve which characterizes its
past; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 175th Anniversary of the United Methodist Church of
Monticello, New York on September 27, 2019; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Reverend Jacqueline F. Carter, United Methodist
Church of Monticello, New York.
