COMMENDING Chris DePrado upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the CAMBA
Beacon Karate Program on June 13, 2019

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Chris
DePrado upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program to be celebrated at its 25th Anniversary
Event on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at PS 361 in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1977, CAMBA is a non-profit agency which
provides services that connect people with opportunities to enhance
their quality of life; and

WHEREAS, CAMBA is a community of clients, staff, volunteers, donors,
neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York
City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and
supports they need to thrive; and

WHEREAS, Chris DePrado became interested in karate while a student
at SUNY Fredonia, where he learned under the master, Rocco Lombardo;
now, 33 years later, he continues to study the Art of Tae Kwon Do and
has earned a 6th Degree Black Belt; and

WHEREAS, Through the years, Chris DePrado has taught his craft at
many locations, but has always enjoyed spending time with the students
of the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program; he has been with the program right
from the beginning, assisting Rocco Lombardo, while learning to lead
with an emphasis on humility and serving others; and

WHEREAS, From 2005-2012, Chris DePrado served as a principle
instructor with the goal of helping students from ages 5-75 transform
into helpful individuals who could change the world; through instruction
and personal example, he has always helped his students to succeed in
karate and in life; and

WHEREAS, After he left the program, Chris DePrado continued to
support and attend the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program whenever he was
needed; when his replacement instructor had to resign due to an injury,
he immediately stepped in to teach the students; and

WHEREAS, Today, Chris DePrado continues to balance his love of Tae
Kwon Do with a demanding job as an I.T. Applications Development
Manager; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of nearly 20 years,
Lynnette, and their three sons, Matthew, Michael and Mark, all of whom
have shown him love and support and rejoice in his many achievements;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Chris DePrado upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program on June 13, 2019; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chris DePrado.
