CONGRATULATING the student team from the Marcy
campus of SUNY Polytechnic Institute upon the
occasion of capturing the first place prize at the
2019 CREATE Symposium on April 10, 2019

WHEREAS, Educational competitions which serve to better prepare our
students for their future participation in the areas of Science and
Technology are worthy of praise and support; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success
in educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the members of the student team from the Marcy campus of
SUNY Polytechnic Institute upon the occasion of capturing the first
place prize at the 2019 CREATE Symposium on Wednesday, April 10, 2019,
at the Empire State Plaza, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Hosted by the New York State Industries for the Disabled,
Inc. (NYSID), the CREATE Symposium allows New York State college
engineering students to collaborate with NYSID Member Agencies to
develop inventions which will help improve the vocational lives of
workers with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, With a record 21 projects developed to help individuals
with disabilities, SUNY Polytechnic Institute took home the first place
prize of $15,000 for their creation of the Six-Pack Plastic Yoke Remover
created for The Arc of Oneida-Lewis; and

WHEREAS, The talent displayed by the team of four students from SUNY
Polytechnic Institute is due in great part to the efforts of Project
Advisor Dr. Yu Zhou and Executive Director of Business Enterprise from
Arc Chad Hartwig, skilled and inspirational tutors, respected for their
ability to develop potential into excellence; and

WHEREAS, The student team from the Marcy campus of SUNY Polytechnic
Institute includes: Ethan Mead, Hugh Harwood, Jeremiah Besse and Vincent
Legnetto; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose,
these students now stand honorably, with just pride in their
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by their professors, coaches and parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the student team from the Marcy campus of SUNY Polytechnic
Institute upon the occasion of capturing the first place prize at the
2019 CREATE Symposium on April 10, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the student team from the Marcy campus of SUNY
Polytechnic Institute: Ethan Mead, Hugh Harwood, Jeremiah Besse and
Vincent Legnetto; Project Advisor Dr. Yu Zhou; and Executive Director of
Business Enterprise from Arc Chad Hartwig.
