HONORING Michele E. Keller upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the
National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Queens
County, on June 2, 2019
WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Michele E. Keller who uphold the
values of community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize
the best of humanity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michele E.
Keller upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Queens County, to be
celebrated at its 32nd Annual Black & White Awards Banquet: "Women's
Empowerment, Legacy, Reclamation and Renewal" on Sunday, June 2, 2019,
at Antun's, Queens Village, New York; and
WHEREAS, Michele E. Keller began her illustrious career in 1975,
with the Social Security Administration in Brooklyn, New York, where she
excelled and was promoted to Claims Representative, a position she held
until January of 1985, when she resigned to join the New York City
Police Department (NYPD); and
WHEREAS, After graduating from the New York City Police Academy,
Michele E. Keller worked in several precincts in Queens, before being
transferred to the New York City Police Department Applicant Processing
Division; and
WHEREAS, During this time, Michele E. Keller climbed the ranks to
become Detective 3rd Grade followed by Detective 2nd Grade; she retired
from the NYPD in May of 2005; and
WHEREAS, Upon her retirement, Michele E. Keller earned a Bachelor of
Arts degree from York College in 2007; she simultaneously served as the
Director of Constituent Services for a New York State Senator until July
of 2011, when she joined Resorts World New York City personnel as a
Security Manager; and
WHEREAS, Today, this extraordinary woman is the Chief Executive
Officer of Keep It Lush Gardening and Landscaping LLC; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Michele E. Keller was appointed to Community Board 12 where
she has been the Transportation Chair for more than two decades; she has
also served as the Chair of the Master Plan Committee for the JFK
Roundtable since its inception; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Michele E. Keller has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her two daughters, LaToya and
Kimberly, as well as six grandchildren, Amber, Keonu, Amira, Caleb,
Daniel and Tamar, who have all shown her love and support and rejoice in
her many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Michele E. Keller, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michele E. Keller upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Queens County,
on June 2, 2019; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michele E. Keller.
