COMMENDING Theresa Vaughan upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the
Albany Fund for Education on October 12, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the
great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The American public school system is a treasured
institution; those individuals, such as Theresa Vaughan, who work to
improve our schools and ensure that all children have access to quality
educational programs merit the highest commendation of this Legislative
Body; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Theresa Vaughan upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Albany Fund for Education to be celebrated at its
21st Annual Gala on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Renaissance Albany
Hotel in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Albany Fund for Education (AFE) strives to enhance
opportunities for students to learn, grow, and succeed by building
community partnerships, raising funds, and investing in innovative and
effective programs and projects that build equity and strengthen the
educational infrastructure of the City School District of Albany; and
WHEREAS, Passionate and committed to public education and the youth
of Albany, Theresa Vaughan truly exemplifies the Fund's mission and
therefore, is truly deserving of this auspicious award; and
WHEREAS, Theresa Vaughan helped establish the Fund in 1997, and
incorporate it in 1998; from 1998-2003, she served as President of this
vital organization and has been a member of its Board of Directors since
its inception; and
WHEREAS, After more than 20 years of service, Theresa Vaughan plans
on stepping down from her important role in the great success of this
vital organization; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Theresa Vaughan was instrumental in
implementing the Grants Program, the Dental Van, Albany Goes Green,
Coach Mentor Workshops, Little Free Libraries, and so much more; and
WHEREAS, Theresa Vaughan has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of Albany, New York, as well as on the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for her impressive
dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Theresa Vaughan upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Albany Fund for Education on October 12, 2018; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Theresa Vaughan.
