MOURNING the death of Kenneth L. Sisson,
distinguished citizen, devoted member of his
community and dedicated family man
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body mourns the passing of Kenneth L. Sisson of Binghamton, New York,
who died on May 22, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Born in 1950, Kenneth "Kenn" L. Sisson graduated from
Chenango Forks High School and Broome Community College; after
completing his studies, he worked as a Systems Engineer for UHS,
Columbia Mutual, EDS, and Hewlett-Packard; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Kenneth L. Sisson
enthusiastically volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician with
various agencies for more than 30 years; he served on the EMS Council
for the State of New York, as Medical Captain for Chenango Bridge Fire
Company, and as a Board Member and Treasurer for Chenango Ambulance; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth L. Sisson was a softball coach for the City of
Binghamton Parks and Recreation before becoming an umpire with the
Binghamton Umpires Association; he was also an ice skating instructor at
BCC with the Binghamton Figure Skating Club; and
WHEREAS, Outside of work, Kenn Sisson was a competent Toast Master,
he was always ready with a story or a joke, quick to laugh, and slow to
anger; like his mother, he shared a life-long love of gardening and
cultivating favorite plants; and
WHEREAS, He was an avid runner and a member of the Triple Cities
Running Club and enjoyed reading, hunting, hiking, fishing, camping, and
wandering the countryside alone on his motorcycle, or in the car with
his beloved wife; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents, Matt and Betty; and his
brother, Warren "Tony", Kenneth L. Sisson is survived by his loving and
devoted wife of 49 years, Dorothy "Dee"; four children, Maria, Danielle
(Shannon Potts), April, and Matthew (Kelly); seven grandchildren,
Michael, Katie, Erika, Colin, Emerson, Peyton, and Ellowyn; two
great-grandchildren Caleb and Evan; sister-in-law Carol; and his
extended "family" at Chenango Bridge Fire Company, Chenango Ambulance
and the Binghamton Umpires Association; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Kenneth L. Sisson leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Kenneth L. Sisson, and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Kenneth L. Sisson.
