COMMENDING Pete Prudente upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Order
Sons of Italy in America John Michael Marino Lodge
No. 1389 on June 19, 2019

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Pete
Prudente upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the Order Sons of Italy in America John Michael Marino Lodge No. 1389 to
be celebrated at a dinner on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at the Port
Washington Senior Center; and

WHEREAS, Born in 1960, Pete Prudente was raised in Port Washington,
New York, where he worked at his father's masonry business, and played
both football and lacrosse for Paul Schrieber High School; and

WHEREAS, After graduating in 1978, Pete Prudente studied equipment
operations, repairs, welding and surveying at Western Nebraska Technical
College; he then returned to his hometown and expanded his father's
business; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to his profession, Pete Prudente is a member of the
Local Union No. 15 Operating Engineers and the New Jersey-based Weeks
Marine, a large marine construction/heavy lift company; and

WHEREAS, Pete Prudente, affectionately known as Port Washington
Pete, married his wife Allison, and in 2002, they purchased Pratt Dining
Hall and made it their home; in this same year, he joined the Glen Cove
Volunteer Fire Department, Engine & Hose Company 4; currently, he is a
participant of the Fireman's Holy Name Society and serves as the Chair
of the Department's Annual Picnic Committee; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his volunteer work with the Fire Department,
Pete Prudente has been involved with numerous local organizations
including the Knights of Columbus, North Shore Elks, the John Michael
Marino Lodge, Poppy's Special Friends Foundation, Glen Cove Road
Panthers, Glen Cove Moose Lodge, Glen Cove Polish Home, the Polish
American Museum and the VFW; and

WHEREAS, In his late 50s, Pete Prudente took stock of his life and
realized how truly fortunate he was to have his health, a loving family
and friends, and a good job, so he decided to donate one of his kidneys
to an individual who was in desperate need of this lifesaving gift; two
days after his 59th Birthday, he did just that; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Pete Prudente upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Order Sons of Italy in America John Michael Marino
Lodge No. 1389 on June 19, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Pete Prudente.
