HONORING Minnie Carpenter upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Manhasset
Great Neck Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. on
June 20, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Minnie Carpenter upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Manhasset Great Neck Economic Opportunity Council,
Inc. at its Spring Gala on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Leonard's
Palazzo, Great Neck, New York; and

WHEREAS, Minnie Carpenter has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Born in Mount Olive, North Carolina, Minnie Carpenter moved
to Great Neck, New York in 1956; she served as the Chef for the
Manhasset Great Neck Economic Opportunity Council's Headstart Program
from 1967 until 1975; and

WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Mama or Miss Minnie, Minnie
Carpenter is a true pillar of the Manhasset Great Neck Community; she
serves as the Deacon of First Baptist Church of Great Neck, and for many
years, hungry residents could always get a meal at her home; her door
and heart are always open to one and all; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Minnie Carpenter has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Minnie Carpenter has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Minnie Carpenter, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Minnie Carpenter upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Manhasset Great Neck Economic Opportunity Council,
Inc.; and be it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Minnie Carpenter.
