Senate Resolution No. 2105

HONORING Jill Jedlicka upon the occasion of being
named a Waterkeeper Warrior by the Waterkeeper
Alliance

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
individuals and organizations within the great State of New York that
are dedicated to the vital work of environmental protection; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jill Jedlicka upon the occasion of being named a Waterkeeper Warrior by
the Waterkeeper Alliance on Thursday, June 13, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Jill Jedlicka earned this distinction as one of 20
Waterkeeper Warriors in the world for her efforts as Executive Director
of Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper to clean up nearly a century's worth of
pollution in the Buffalo River, as well as for her ongoing work to
restore water and ecosystems on the region's waterfront and waterways;
and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of the environment which Jill Jedlicka has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon all citizens to recognize and applaud
the efforts of individuals who work tirelessly on behalf of protecting
our natural surroundings for the benefit of present and future
generations of New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jill Jedlicka upon the occasion of being named a Waterkeeper
Warrior by the Waterkeeper Alliance; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jill Jedlicka.
