COMMENDING Nicky Doodles Ice Cream and Quick Serve
Restaurant upon the occasion of celebrating its 20th
Anniversary
WHEREAS, Within each community of this great State of New York there
are certain businesses that define the nature of the region and the
people who inhabit it; and
WHEREAS, Such is true of Nicky Doodles Ice Cream and Quick Serve
Restaurant which has provided nourishment and employment for residents
in Oneida County for 20 prosperous years; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend Nicky Doodles Ice
Cream and Quick Serve Restaurant upon the occasion of celebrating its
20th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, In 1998, Tim Twomey and his wife opened Nicky Doodles Ice
Cream and Quick Serve Restaurant in the house next to its wallpaper shop
on Erie Boulevard in Rome; named in honor of their son, Nick, the
business quickly became an institution, serving delicious ice cream to
its many loyal customers from March through late October; and
WHEREAS, Three years later, Nicky Doodles began to serve hot dogs,
burgers and other lunch items; today, the restaurant offers its patrons
a full menu, including the Doodle Dumpster, a garbage-plate-inspired
pile of hot dog, hamburger, french fries, chili, macaroni salad and
nacho cheese with two buns; and
WHEREAS, After many years of great success, Nicky Doodles expanded
to two new stores in Verona and New Hartford, New York; last season, the
Twomeys opened Nicky Doodles To-Go at the site of the old wallpaper
store, serving ice cream and homemade ice cream cakes during the
off-season; and
WHEREAS, For 20 fruitful years, Tim Twomey, his family and the
employees of Nicky Doodles Ice Cream and Quick Serve Restaurant have
brought an uncommon sense of quality and spirit to the community,
providing the residents of Rome, Verona, New Hartford and Oneida County
not only with good food, but also with good old-fashioned memories to
enjoy; and
WHEREAS, It is fitting that this Legislative Body recognize local
businesses such as Nicky Doodles Ice Cream and Quick Serve Restaurant
which have become institutions in the community, as well as the
successful entrepreneurs who have nurtured them throughout the years;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Nicky Doodles Ice Cream and Quick Serve Restaurant upon the
occasion of celebrating its 20th Anniversary, fully confident that it
will continue to enjoy the same sparkling success and indomitable spirit
which has so characterized its past; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Tim Twomey, Owner, Nicky Doodles Ice Cream and Quick
Serve Restaurant.
