CONGRATULATING Scott H. Perra, FACHE, upon the
occasion of his retirement as President/CEO of
Mohawk Valley Health System
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Scott H. Perra, FACHE, upon the occasion of his retirement
as President/CEO of Mohawk Valley Health System to be celebrated on
Friday, January 18, 2019, at Delta Hotels By Marriott Utica, Utica, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Scott H. Perra began his illustrious career with Mohawk
Valley Health System in 1985, when he joined St. Luke's-Memorial
Hospital Center; he quickly climbed the ranks to become Executive Vice
President/Chief Operating Officer in 1989, remaining in the position
through the Faxton Hospital and St. Luke's-Memorial Hospital Center
consolidation which began in November of 1998; and
WHEREAS, This extraordinary man was appointed President/CEO of
Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare (FSLH) in January of 2009; five years
later, Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Medical Center
affiliated, and Scott H. Perra was appointed President/CEO of the newly
formed Mohawk Valley Health System, the esteemed position from which he
will officially retire on January 31, 2019; and
WHEREAS, In September of 2012, Scott H. Perra was elected to the
Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company Board, the largest medical
malpractice insurance company in the State and top five nationally; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Board of Directors of the Healthcare
Association of New York State, Scott H. Perra spent two years as
Chairman of the Iroquois Healthcare Association where he currently
serves on the Board and Executive Committee; and
WHEREAS, Active in the community, Scott H. Perra is a member of the
Executive Committee of the Mohawk Valley EDGE Board of Directors,
Excellus Utica Regional Advisory Board, the Audit and Compliance
Committee for the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties,
Inc. and NBT Bank's Mohawk Valley Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, Scott H. Perra previously served on the American College of
Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Regents Advisory Council and Professional
Advisory Committee for the Health Services Management Program at SUNYIT;
he is past chairman of Mohawk Valley Heart Institute and past Chairman
of the Board of Directors for St. Luke's Home; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Leadership Mohawk Valley (LMV), Scott H.
Perra's expertise and contribution to healthcare has earned him numerous
awards and accolades, including the 2004 LMV Follow the Leader Award,
the 2014 Genesis Group Outstanding Healthcare Leadership Award, and the
2015 Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year
Award; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, Scott H. Perra was again recognized by LMV as a
leader in the category of "Challenge the Process" for his initiatives
and innovative approach in consolidating healthcare in the region and
enhancing services to improve the quality of healthcare for the Mohawk
Valley; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, as a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community
College, Scott H. Perra was selected for the Alumnus of Merit Award in
2017; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as President/CEO, Scott H. Perra served
with loyalty, honor and distinction, earning the admiration, esteem and
affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Scott H. Perra over a lifetime of sacrifice and
dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Scott H. Perra, FACHE, upon the occasion of his retirement
as President/CEO of Mohawk Valley Health System; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Scott H. Perra, FACHE.
