COMMENDING Louis A. Falco upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the
highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the New
York State Senate
WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Louis A.
Falco upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Liberty
Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the New York
State Senate; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by
Resolution and is awarded to individuals who have merited special
commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of
their fellow New Yorkers; and
WHEREAS, Voted "Mr. Roosevelt" by the 1967 graduating senior class
of Roosevelt High School in Nassau County, New York, Louis A. Falco
always identified as a representative for his peers and his community;
and
WHEREAS, Louis A. Falco proudly served his country as a member of
the United States Marine Corp from 1969 to 1971, where he walked point
for his Squad, Company, and Battalion during the Vietnam War; and
WHEREAS, For his courageous service during the Vietnam War, Louis A.
Falco was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service
Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with Device, as well as a Marksmanship
Badge; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Disabled American Veterans with an
honorable discharge, Louis A. Falco truly understands the plight of the
soldier and realizes the effects of war long after one has returned
home; his reference manual for Veterans reflects this understanding and
is given to Veterans both home and abroad; and
WHEREAS, Louis A. Falco is the founder and president of
Operations-Initiative Foundation Incorporated which provides support for
Veterans and their families suffering from Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD) in the New York area; this vital foundation also
promotes awareness of the needs and issues confronting our brave service
men and women throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, Knowing the challenges these returning Veterans face, Louis
A. Falco also established Veteran Transitional Centers in Amityville
and Hicksville, New York, offering a comforting place where Veterans,
upon return from service, can seek information and references needed to
assist them in the smooth transition into everyday life; and
WHEREAS, A natural leader, Louis A. Falco is the Owner and Operator
of Falco Maintenance Incorporated, a family business providing general
cleaning services and products at the commercial and residential level,
since 1963; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast commitment to his community, Louis A.
Falco was a first responder during "Super Storm Sandy" and assisted many
families across Long Island; and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
Louis A. Falco demonstrated his love for his country and merits
forevermore the highest respect of his State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Louis A. Falco upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the
New York State Senate; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Louis A. Falco.
