CONGRATULATING Julia Williams upon the occasion of
celebrating her 100th Birthday on January 17, 2020
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of New York
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Julia Williams upon the occasion of her 100th Birthday to
be celebrated with a party held in her honor at the Cinque Terre
Ristorante Italiano in Huntington Station, New York on January 19, 2020;
and
WHEREAS, Julia Williams was born on January 17, 1920, in Queens, New
York, to Polish immigrant parents; and
WHEREAS, Graduating as Salutatorian from South Huntington Central
School District, Class of 1938, Julia Williams immediately began her
career as a secretary for the school district; and
WHEREAS, She married the love of her life Earl Williams, in 1945,
and together they had three beautiful children; today, she is the loving
grandmother of five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and
WHEREAS, Julia Williams returned to work in 1960 when her youngest
child started school and promptly worked up until her retirement in
1975; post retirement she enjoyed spending her free time traveling and
playing golf; and
WHEREAS, A proud member of St. Hugh of Lincoln Church in Huntington
Station, New York, Julia Williams has also been active in the Catholic
War Veterans and the VFW; and
WHEREAS, Julia Williams continues to enjoy playing Mah Jong every
week and spending time with her friends and family who admire her
deeply; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of the Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and
awesome achievements of this country during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the growth and excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Julia Williams upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Julia Williams.
