MOURNING the tragic and untimely death of Police
Officer Brian Mulkeen, committed law enforcement
officer and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a courageous and hardworking police officer who dedicated his purposeful
life and career in faithful service to both his family and the residents
of New York State; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that this Legislative Body
records the passing of Brian Mulkeen, who made the ultimate sacrifice on
Sunday, September 29, 2019, while in the line of duty; and

WHEREAS, Brian Mulkeen truly lived his life with great dignity and
genuine grace, always demonstrating a deep and continuing concern for
the welfare of others in the great State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Born on March 3, 1986, in Suffern, New York, Brian Mulkeen
graduated from Monroe-Woodbury High School in 2004, where he served as
Class President; he went on to earn a degree in Finance from Fordham
University in 2008; and

WHEREAS, Prior to joining the force, Brian Mulkeen worked at Merrill
Lynch, leaving the financial industry to pursue his true passion, to
serve and protect others; and

WHEREAS, Brian Mulkeen began as a dispatcher for the Town of Tuxedo
Police Department; he finished Ulster County Law Enforcement Training
Group as Squad Leader and from there joined the Bronx's 48th Precinct
before moving to the Bronx Anti-Crime Unit in 2017; and

WHEREAS, A seven-year veteran of the New York State Police, Brian
Mulkeen served with dedication, loyalty and compassion, and devoted his
purposeful life and career to serve and protect; he was well-known
throughout the NYPD and the community for his supreme dedication and
commitment to the force; and

WHEREAS, Brian Mulkeen was the recipient of at least five Excellence
in Police Duties Awards and served as a true inspiration to his team to
achieve more on behalf of others; in his time with the NYPD, he made
more than 260 arrests, more than half of them for felonies; he also took
40 guns off the streets; and

WHEREAS, Brian Mulkeen is survived by his parents, Camille and
Brian; one sister, Erin; one brother, Eric (Deanna); and his girlfriend,
Sherry; as well as countless other family members who held him in the
highest esteem as a remarkable human being; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Brian Mulkeen leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he

served and befriended; he will be deeply missed and truly merits the
grateful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the tragic and untimely death of Police Officer Brian Mulkeen,
committed law enforcement officer and devoted member of his community;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Police Officer Brian Mulkeen.
