COMMEMORATING the 30th Anniversary of the African
American Clergy and Elected Officials Organization
of Brooklyn, New York, to be celebrated on November
1, 2019
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
30th Anniversary of the African American Clergy and Elected Officials
Organization at its next Breakfast Conference that was celebrated on
Friday, November 1st, 2019, at Antioch Baptist Church, Brooklyn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1989, the African American Clergy and Elected
Officials Organization (AACEO) stands on the threshold of tomorrow,
prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades while retaining
that spiritual resolve which characterizes its past; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the AACEO serves,
strengthens, and empowers the parishioners and constituents of Brooklyn
through advocacy and participation in areas that social and economic
injustice exist; and
WHEREAS, Today, the AACEO is the only organization in the State of
New York where pastors, priests, ministers, elected officials and
community stakeholders meet monthly to exchange information on community
issues on all levels of government; and
WHEREAS, The success of the AACEO is in direct correlation to the
efforts of its members, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention it is appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and
commend that organization for the edification of others; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the African American Clergy and Elected Officials
Organization on its 30th Anniversary that was observed on November 1,
2019, fully confident that this commemoration reflects the belief in
those values which enhance the dignity and purpose of life; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Reverend Dr. Robert M. Waterman, President, African
American Clergy and Elected Officials Organization, Brooklyn, New York.
