Literacy Project to be celebrated on Thursday, September 17, 2020; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 2005, Flanbwayan Haitian Literacy Project has

to help develop these students into becoming productive citizens through
youth and leadership development activities which build their
self-esteem and nurture their voices; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to its community, Flanbwayan Haitian Literacy
Project helps to solve many problems for older students enrolled in
school, who often struggle to complete their educations; due to complex
responsibilities, obligations and lacking the traditional supports
necessary to meet their educational goals; and
WHEREAS, Offering alternative paths to graduation, Flanbwayan
Haitian Literacy Project offers older immigrant students' creative
responses to the challenges they face in their education, as well as
emotional and social lives; and

public schools to meet the learning needs of older newcomer students by
training educators who are culturally aware and fighting for more

tailored to English Language learners; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, Flanbwayan Haitian Literacy
Project's ongoing endeavors and notable achievements have significantly
contributed to bettering the quality of life in its community; now,
