COMMENDING Sak Pase Nation upon the occasion of
hosting its Annual Haitian Flag Day Festival, in
conjunction with the observance of Haitian Flag Day
in the State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body, in keeping with
its time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those
organizations which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of
cultural diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of
New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Sak Pase Nation upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Haitian
Flag Day Festival on Sunday, May 17, 2020, in conjunction with the
observance of Haitian Flag Day in the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, The people of Haiti take a great deal of pride in their
nation's flag; after struggling for years to rid their territory of both
slavery and imperialism, Haitian revolutionaries were able to achieve
such goals; and

WHEREAS, There is no greater symbol of their everlasting dedication
to an independent Haiti than the flag which represents their triumphs;
and

WHEREAS, During this auspicious event, thousands of people will
gather on Nostrand Avenue, between Clarendon Road and Avenue D in
Brooklyn, New York, to celebrate Haiti's 218th Independence Anniversary
and the creation of its flag, while listening and dancing to different
genres of music from many artists and entertainers; and

WHEREAS, Sak Pase Nation is a company which specializes in holding
non-profit events to help young people around the world reach their full
potential; through various foundations, the company has provided
clothes, school supplies and food to children who live in Haiti; and

WHEREAS, Sak Pase Nation also uses the power of its radio station to
reach out to individuals across the globe in order to expand its
philanthropic services; and

WHEREAS, Citizens from this great Empire State are encouraged to
join those of Haitian backgrounds as they rejoice in the accomplishments
of their ancestors by memorializing May 18, 2020, as Haitian Flag Day in
the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
companies of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sak Pase Nation upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Haitian

Flag Day Festival on Sunday, May 17, 2020, in conjunction with the
observance of Haitian Flag Day in the State of New York; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sak Pase Nation.
