COMMEMORATING the 25th Anniversary of Amity
University

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those exemplary institutions of higher education within the
State of New York for their enduring commitment to the pursuit of
academic excellence; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Amity University; and

WHEREAS, Amity University is passionate about grooming leaders who
are not only thorough professionals but also good human beings with
strong values; their educational model emphasizes professional
development and career preparedness; and

WHEREAS, Amity University is led by the Amity Education Group, which
comprises five universities, 17 schools and pre-schools, and seven
international higher education campuses in London, New York, California,
Singapore, Mauritius, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, China and Romania;
and

WHEREAS, The Amity Education Group is home to over 100,000 students
pursuing over 250 different degree programs in more than 50 diverse
disciplines from pre-school to Ph.D.; Savita Arora serves as Vice
President of Strategic Growth and Operations for this revered Group; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, Amity University has been accredited
by more than 25 national and international qualified bodies, provided
25,000 scholarships, and placed 27,000 students in on-campus housing;
and

WHEREAS, Amity University was started by Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan who
also created and serves as President of the Ritnand Balved Education
Foundation, the organization responsible for creating the influential
Amity education network; and

WHEREAS, Amity University is known as the first University in India
to provide wireless access on its campuses with over 4,000 networked
HP/IBM machines; and

WHEREAS, The alumni of Amity University go on to pursue careers all
over the world in leading companies such as McKinsey, Ernst & Young,
HLL, and Reliance; and

WHEREAS, This prestigious university's logo is represented in a
shield divided into dark blue and golden yellow sections by an upward
sweeping line that depicts growth and progress in life, achievable
through education; while the shield shape represents the resolute
shelter of truth, two contrasting yet adjacent colors connote a blend of
modernity with tradition; the dark blue with contemporary cues of
technology, performance and advancement strikes a synergy with the

golden yellow radiance of tradition, culture and values; and the flame
represents purity and passion for knowledge; and

WHEREAS, Amity University was ranked first for Private
Not-for-profit Universities in the July issue of India Today's
University Rankings; and

WHEREAS, Amity Education Group recently acquired a campus in
Oakdale, New York, from St. John's University; St. John's accepted the
Group's offer due to its strong educational background, integrity, and
vision to continue as a global teaching and research facility; and

WHEREAS, In addition to its academic dedication, Amity University is
committed to nation-building beyond education reflected in the efforts
and initiatives of the Amity Humanity Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1995, the mission of Amity Humanity
Foundation is to support and initiate social welfare activities and
create possibilities for equitable social development; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
universities of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Amity University; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder of Amity University; and
Savita Arora, Vice President of Strategy and Operations, Amity Education
Group.
