HONORING Dr. Carolyn Wolf-Gould upon the occasion
of her designation as recipient of the Marsha P.
Johnson Award by the Pride Center of the Capital
Region

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the profound impact of
those exemplary individuals within the great State of New York who
proactively work for the enfranchisement of minority communities, and
the importance of such work for the benefit of all citizens of this
State, and indeed, all citizens of the Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Carolyn
Wolf-Gould upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Marsha P. Johnson Award by the Pride Center of the Capital Region to be
celebrated at its Annual Awards Gala on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the
Albany Capital Center, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious event benefits the Pride Center of the
Capital Region and celebrates the important contributions of individuals
who work hard to empower the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and
queer/questioning (LGBTQ) community; Dr. Carolyn Wolf-Gould is one such
individual; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Carolyn Wolf-Gould is receiving the Marsha P. Johnson
Award for her demonstrated leadership and support of the transgender
community; and

WHEREAS, Since 1994, Dr. Carolyn Wolf-Gould has served as a family
physician in Oneonta, New York, and has practiced transgender medicine
as part of general primary care since 2007; and

WHEREAS, This remarkable woman is the founder of The Gender Wellness
Center at Susquehanna Family Practice, a multidisciplinary center which
has grown rapidly to meet the needs of patients in Upstate New York;
under her luminous leadership, the Center offers services tailored to
meet the needs of gender nonconforming patients and provides health and
psychological services to the transgender community; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Carolyn Wolf-Gould also works in the Bassett Healthcare
Network; in this capacity, she and her team of providers are the
recipients of a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Grant
from 2016-2019 to create a rural based Center of Excellence in
Transgender Health for Upstate New York; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Carolyn Wolf-Gould is a vital member of the World
Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and is the
collaborating physician for Choices Counseling and Consulting; and

WHEREAS, As a WPATH clinical mentor, Dr. Carolyn Wolf-Gould is
committed to training health care professionals on how to include
transgender health services as a part of primary care; and

WHEREAS, Our society is greatly benefited by the purposeful efforts
of individuals who unite for the cause of improving the quality of life
for others, and who proactively work toward the goal of dignity for all;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Carolyn Wolf-Gould upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Marsha P. Johnson Award by the Pride Center of the
Capital Region; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Carolyn Wolf-Gould.
